Alex Alexander This release is such a great little nugget. It's reminiscent of the Books for me. I love the blend of subtle complementary textures. The rhythms all feel nice, and I really like the tonality/character/phrasing of the vocals. This music is highly unique and distinctly enjoyable. I also love the little comic that comes with the download--perfect companion to the music! Favorite track: Golden Gong.

about

"The sun comes up, a resounding fire, the great golden gong of the dawn:"

"Of all the featherless beasts only man, chained by his self-imposed slavery to the clock, denies the elemental fire and proceeds as best he can about his business, suffering quietly, martyr to his madness. Much to learn."

"The old moon, like a worn and ancient coin, is still hanging in the west when I awake."

Edward Abbey "Desert Solitaire"

Track Name: Golden Gong
Run and hide
Wait it out

Breaking bold to the East
Charted order, bending trees
Come bow, come all
A new bead to lead

Expand and control
Sleeping soundly building heat
Warm stone, butchers block
Seared rock for the meat

Run and hide
Rawhide
Track Name: Heat Noon
In the heat of the noon
When the dogs lap the dust from your spoon
The walking man curses his shoes
And the moon couldn't come too soon

No shadow

You slave to the clock, standing shocked
Animals watch in the lee of the rocks
They're taking stock
No shadow

No shadow
Track Name: Night Tide
The night keeps folding out

Outside

Most of all the point of this is due to repetition
A coastal call to tread upon the wall we call tradition
The picture only needs a pretty frame
This picture only needs a pretty frame

Outside

The singing stars and my guitar need no melody to hold them
So modestly here's my beating phrase that's bound to stay the same
Let me be the blanket for a change
Let me be the blanket for a change
